Swiss Army Knife - In Development

Wanted to share this before going to dreamland. It will be a Swiss Army Knife - for my Turbosquid Store

Max's NURBS Tools

Many artists didn't like it but I even like Max's NURBS tools more... Perhaps its just me who tired of Maya's BS over years...

Wireframe Rendering On 3ds Max

It's not as hard as Maya. Actually easier with a compositing material that a standard material attached to it with Wireframe option checked. Unless it will appear transparent. I've found this on youtube and its a practical and easy to apply tutorial. Don't forget to thanks to the author.

3ds Max & Poly Modeling

My current job requires modeling done with 3ds Max so finally - actually it was a must - made my decision about main software and moved to Max. After years love and hate relationship with Cinema 4D, Maya and Modo it's really a big decision. But it's better being undecided. And right now while working with it I started to love its efficient and stable polygon modeling tools. There are many reasons of course that many artists and studios using 3ds max but I'm sure the efficient and fast modeling workflow is one of them. So its well wroth spending time with it...

I still have couple of projects to finish with C4D. Dropped personal projects with Maya totally. And purchased training material for Max. I'm still using my old version of Max I adopted years ago - but planing to update it too. But first I have to decide which package I'm gonna need Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite looks really cool. Not sure about Mudbox over Zbrush - I'm not a big fan of both so I'm totally neutral about it. I'v heard Mudbox is better for production work and Zbrush is an artist tool - but also Mudbox requires a fine computer. Planning to purchase one also after completed my projects.

I think that's it for now...

Edge Issue On Merged Vertecies

So this is an issue I came across while modeling on Maya. You know that Maya can be a real pain in the ass. And this happens sometimes when I combined two meshes and merge vertecies.

What happens is edges between the merged verts are keeping their highlights like those vertecies never merged. Mesh Cleanup command is able to solve that problem most of the time if you use it with right options selected.

I hope this helps you out!

Seamagic Is Here!

Seamagic tells the story of gentle lapping of the waves, a siren luring you into the depths, faraway dolphins, the dark depth of the deep see with unknown secrets, the playing of the waters when the evening tide comes in, sounds of an Irish Harbour, an ancient port to be rediscovered, mythical figures appearing and leaving you inspired, balancing of the inner waters of the body, gentle sparks of morning dew to be born on a spring morning, powerful waves breaking against a rock of a lighthouse, an ancient celtic lough mirroring the blue of the sky in the waters and opening up your desires.

Let yourself be transported on a journey and discover the power of water.

MAXON Unveils CINEMA 4D Release 13

MAXON announced CINEMA 4D Release 13, the next generation of its industry- leading 3D motion graphics, visual effects, painting, and rendering software application. With all new character tools, integrated stereographic capabilities, stream-lined multi-artist collaboration and physical rendering, CINEMA 4D Release 13 builds on the company’s 25-year legacy of enabling digital content creators around the world to produce highly engaging content quickly and easily for a variety of industries.

As MAXON commemorates its 25-year anniversary and its most successful year to date in 2010, Harald Egel, MAXON founder and CEO, observes that today’s work environments are marked increasingly by designers creating content in remote locations, working on various platforms and production pipelines, as well as producing more 3D stereoscopic material.

“CINEMA 4D R13 is supercharged with numerous productivity enhancements that cater to the multi-collaboration challenges our customers face every day,” Harald Egel states. “Artists interested in expanding their capabilities will love the new character tools. And, of course, the physical renderer with stereoscopic functionality is incredibly important as the new way to deliver immersive entertainment.”

V Menu Of Cinema 4D

Many of C4D users already know that but this is something I really like - much more useful, well designed and efficient than Maya's Hotbox (if there are people out there think that's inspired from Maya, they should know it's 1000 times better).

That V Menu features the most important options you can use while modeling. They are not bolted together roughly like Maya's crapbox. A carefully designed, fast and useful shortcut menu to most important tools of C4D.

Form a habit of using it - if you still didn't, you'll enjoy it.

Follow Your Passion - Find Your Power

You may be familiar with Bob Doyle.

He was a part of the movie and book "The Secret" and has been teaching the principles discussed in that film for nearly 10 years.

Before he discovered and learned to work with what's called the Law of Attraction, he was like a lot of people...struggling financially, and finding no happiness in any of his career choices.

With a young family and no job, Bob started implementing what he finally realized was the SCIENCE of creating life by design. He was really focused on science because he needed to know that all of this wasn't some kind of new-age happy talk.

Once he started using these principles to change his core belief structure about success and money really meant to him, the direction of his life shifted dramatically...and as he saw results, he started teaching how he achieved them.

For a decade, his Wealth Beyond Reason program has been teaching these principles effectively in ways that few others have, resulting in a powerfully transformative experience for his students.

Bob is just about to release his latest book, "Follow Your Passion - Find Your Power", which communicates probably the most down-to-earth and practical explanations of the Law of Attraction I've ever heard. And he goes on to explain exactly why these principles don't seem to be working in your life, and what to do about it.

The main focus of the book is to reconnect you with your sense of passion. Given that the most successful people in the world are those that do what they're passionate about, you can see why living a fully passionate life would be something to aspire too.

To lead up to his book release, Bob is releasing a set of interviews he recently conducted with highly successful people who attribute that success to following their passions.

These interviews are filled with great inspirational stories of how "ordinary people" became extraordinary, simply by tapping into their sense of passion and following their bliss.

If that sound too pie-in-the-sky, then you DEFINITELY want to hear these interviews. You will change your mind, AND see new possibility in your own life!

All of these people are contributing extremely valuable gifts to Bob's book promotion, and each of these gifts is yours at no charge when you purchase Bob's book on the day it releases.

The interviews are yours regardless of whether you purchase the book, and I urge you to register for the series. The interviews are short and sweet, but filled with power!

Here's where to register

I know you'll enjoy the interviews, or I wouldn't send you there. :)

Love,

K.

P.S. The gifts that have been contributed to Bob are truly amazing in and of themselves. Any one of the gifts is worth many times what folks will pay for his new book! See if you don't agree that these are more than just "bonus" items...

Prometheus (The Alien Prequel)

I think we are in the era of screwed up prequels. Most of my friends on foundation3d forum thinking the same - Hollywood making prequels, re-shooting classics like Superman and screwing them up (look look Superman has a child!) Among all those nonsense my friends on foundation3d forum have nice expectations about Prometheus (The Alien Prequel). I don't write about movies much. I'm not a film critique - I don't want to be because being an awesome film critique is far worse than being a mediocre film director. At least Director doing his/her best to create a form of art. What a film critique doing except gabbing out the things they have no idea how to do?

Well anyway, here you can visit the foundation forum and read what my friends there know and think about that promising prequel.

As a recently watched movie; Super 8 were made me happy, little ones acted so great and even they accomplished telling the "Angry-ET-Wants-To-Go-Home" story very well. Story telling and acting, framing and lighting, set dressing and design is actually way more important than 3D VFX. I personally never enjoy watching movies like Sucker Punch which is not a movie but a video game.

Warning: Non object-space scale baked onto components

If you get that error message on Maya's Command Response History line Warning: Non object-space scale baked onto components. when you use Scale Tool, means something is wrong with the tool settings. And if you try to edit the Subdivision Axis, Height and Caps, the object will go funky. You can fix this with just re-setting the tool on Tool Options (double click the scale icon on the left bar to access the tool options for the scale tool). Easy to solve, however I came across to that video put together by Digital Tutors staff - which is useful. Hope it helps...

Temple Of Iris At Front Page Of Foundation3D.com

Temple Of Iris is featured on the front page of Foundation 3D Web Site. Here you can visit my thread. That is my second work featured on the front page there which is important to me because both of them are entirely created from scratch. And they are kinda different than my previous workflow - which is very heartening because I really love focusing on 3D modeling. And hoping to apply that workflow to environments also.

Follow Your Passion And Find Your Power!

Many successful and happy people reached their ultimate goals when they started to follow their passion.

I know in the current circumstances and economic climate it is not an easy task. But if you know where to look, if you trust that there is a higher power which is helping us - you'll find your path surely. The important thing for me in this life is living with a feeling of gratitude. My health was terrible until I discovered to already be grateful for a good health. And still lots of things need to change but our focus needs to change first.

So visit and get more info about Bob Doyle's most recent book Follow Your Passion And Find Your Power learn the science behind the law of attraction and law of abundance seriously and apply these to your life freely.

And be happy :)

Maya Viewport Background Color

I discovered something while I was working on my models on Maya - something probably most of you guys already know. But I wanted to share anyway: Alt + B which is a short cut to change the background color of Maya to regular dark grey, a bit more light grey, black and then gradient. You can use that short cut while you are working to see your mesh and lines better which is something really cool. So Alt +B... and hope this post find people well who don't know but need to know :D

Back On Track

I solved my hard drive issue with removing it(!) and did some long test renders. So far so good. The little render slave works fine. Looking forward to get a nice new workstation anyway.

After all I decided not to drop any of my services of any kind. Not dropping using Vue, Cinema and Modo also. even the renders taking a hell of a time right now. I just love these tools and really don't like the others - at all.

Advanced Photography Tips - Rules Of Composition

Photo Editor X Photo Editing Software Banner

How To Use Composition In Photography - Techniques

Master The Use Of Composition In Photography

Composition is a tricky thing to master. Unlike the technical aspects of picture-taking, composition cannot be measured like exposure, white balance or focus. It’s a subjective thing that requires personal taste and an appreciation for a range of aspects such as line, shape, perspective and value – to name a few.

Without a sold set of rules, composing photographs well can feel a little overwhelming. In this article you will discover some of the aspects that contribute a well-composed shot. Its up to you to figure out the best combination for you shot, put them into practice and asses how you can use them o emphasise your scene. Its about self expression and evoking mood and atmosphere, rather than replicating the scene as your camera sees it. The world composition is defined as a mixture of ingredients – here we’ll provide the ingredients but then its your job to make the cake.

One of the first things you need to establishes in your scene is what to keep and what to discard. You need to actively edit your scene to get the best from it.

This could mean waiting for a person to get out of the shot, hardening a few distracting blades of grass from the flower or simply deciding to only photograph part of the scene rather than all of it.

If you learn on thing about composition, the key is to simplify your scene as much as you can. Photographing the bare essentials will provide a far more striking image than a muddle of conflicting elements screaming at the viewer from every direction. A simple crop, moving in closer or removing the unnecessary extras can all work wonders to help you achieve top shots.

Once you’ve decided what to retain and what to discard, the next job is to consider your viewpoint. You can easily transform the scene by looking at it from above or below. Assess the available vantage points of the scene and decide if it looks better from a different angle or height other than the eye level. This approach can turn bland objects into something exciting and original. A spiral staircase can benefit from being shot from above, in order to emphasize the height and curve of the structure.

Likewise, a monument or large imposing structure can be made to look even more dramatic by shooting from below and looking upwards

Here are 5 important rules of composition:

-Symmetry
For a decent symmetrical image to work, there needs to be a sense of tension, which can be created by elements of suspense or surprise.

-Depth of Field
When organizing space, depth of field can play a big role in how the image will look. Think about what you want to see sharp and then adjust your depth of field accordingly.

-Moments In time
If your scene is a source of action, pre-focus in order to capture the moment in time. Anticipation is key, so be prepared and choose your moment carefully. Alternatively, use continuous shooting mode to capture a sequence in time

-Texture
To really appeal to the viewer’s sense, incorporate texture into your shot. The appearance of texture can be heightened with the aid of good lighting. A light source raking across the textured surface will exaggerate it beautifully.’

-Tone
Tone related to the full range of grays present in the scale from the blackest black to the purest white. For a tranquil appeal, its best to aim for low-contrast. To emphasis extremes, opt for a high contrast effect.

-Color
Composition and color combine to create a dramatic impact. Assess your subject and see if it will benefit from color treatment. A bleak scene can be made more dramatic by selectively coloring a single element.

Composition is something that is always done, whether you’re a good photography or a bad one. What distinguishes you from the bad photographers is the ability to know how to compose your shot well. I hope you found this useful.
